Montgomery County and Liberty County sheriff’s deputies worked together to apprehend two suspects involved in armed robberies reported in both counties on Saturday.
On January 10, 2025, at 11:17 a.m., deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to an armed robbery at a convenience store in the 26600 block of FM 1485 in New Caney. While officers were approaching, Montgomery County dispatchers informed them of a similar robbery in Liberty County on FM 1010 near Colony Ridge.
Deputies were given a thorough description of the suspects and their car. An MCSO deputy later saw a car that matched the description and attempted a traffic stop. The suspects failed to halt, resulting in a brief pursuit that ended when the vehicle crashed on Manion Drive. The suspects then escaped on foot through a wooded area.
Liberty County deputies, who were already familiar with the suspects from ongoing investigations into multiple robbery-related vehicles, continued to assist in the search. A vehicle related to earlier robberies was later discovered in Cleveland. Officers from Liberty County halted the car and found two males who matched the description of the suspects in the FM 1485 heist.
The two individuals were linked to the armed robbery based on evidence found at the site and witness accounts. Octavio Avalo Flores, 20, and Osmar Tenorio Flores, 23, were taken into custody and charged with aggravated robbery. Both were sent to the Montgomery County Jail.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes investigators and Crime Scene Investigators responded and are still investigating the case. Authorities are also looking into the suspects’ citizenship status; if one is found to be in the country illegally, ICE detention may be imposed.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office praised the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance, stating that the coordinated response and information sharing across agencies played an important part in the quick arrests.
