Reckless 18-wheeler Driver Taken Into Custody In Grimes County

A Houston man was taken into custody on various charges in Grimes County this morning (Tuesday).

Just before 10:30 a.m., Navasota Police Dispatch received several complaints reporting a reckless 18-wheeler heading south on Highway 6 in Brazos County.

One caller said that the truck was tailgating and swerving at their vehicle while driving through a construction zone.

The caller stated that they exited the highway due to worry about their safety. While doing so, the driver of the 18-wheeler allegedly pointed a gun at them.

Navasota police officers arrived at the scene and found the 18-wheeler entering Highway 6 into North LaSalle Street.

A felony traffic stop occurred in the 500 block of North LaSalle, and the driver, 24-year-old Jordy Suljanovic, was held without incident.

A weapon and THC products were seized during the car search.

Following a background check, it was determined that Suljanovic had at least one previous felony conviction.

He was booked into the Grimes County Jail in Anderson on charges of felony possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance. Penalty Group 2: 4 to 400 grams.

According to Navasota Police, potential additional charges of careless driving and terroristic threat will be forwarded to the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office.
