Omar Pitter, 45, a San Diego resident, was sentenced to 33 years and four months in federal prison today after a jury convicted him of methamphetamine trafficking throughout the country last year. Prosecutors said Pitter mailed substantial amounts of meth to the Tampa Bay region and utilized financial schemes to conceal the drug money. The sentencing is the latest step in a multi-state investigation that has linked Suncoast street dealers to suppliers in Southern California.
According to a press release from the US Attorney’s Office, US District Judge William F. Jung imposed the 33-year, 4-month sentence during a four-day jury trial that concluded in September 2025. Investigators stated that Pitter had been commercially exporting cocaine and methamphetamine since 2023, and inspections of his residence revealed piles of money orders and more than $400,000 in valued jewels. He was also found guilty of conspiring to launder money from cocaine sales.
How Investigators Traced the Pipeline
The case started in Sarasota, not California. In February 2024, DEA investigators launched an investigation into local resident Colin Zirpoli, which led them up the supply chain to Elizabeth Poff, Tony Marsh, and Hopeton Goslin, according to WWSB. Search warrants at Goslin’s home and a storage unit yielded more than 45 kilograms of methamphetamine, according to investigators. The trail led to Pitter in San Diego, who federal officials say used FedEx and UPS shipments to transport narcotics into the Tampa Bay region.
According to the US Attorney’s Office, some co-conspirators have already received court sentences. Following earlier guilty pleas, Hopeton Goslin was sentenced to 20 years, Tony Marsh to 10 years, Elizabeth Poff to 37 months, and Colin Zirpoli to 30 months. According to trial testimony, the overall pipeline contained approximately 34 kilograms of cocaine and 697 pounds of methamphetamine.
