Two Charged In Fake Money Order Scheme

Two suspects are accused of a fake money order scheme that occurred last summer at the Truist Bank in Denver, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff, Charles Warren Spikes, 28, of Gastonia put six fake money orders into the account of Jasmine Goode, 34, of Gastonia.

The two are suspected of conducting the same type of fraud at other Truist locations in the Carolinas.

Spikes was charged with one crime of obtaining property under false pretenses, six felony counts of uttering forged instruments, and one felony conspiracy. He received a $7,500 secured bond for all counts and is still being held at the Cabarrus County jail facility on further charges.

Goode was charged with one count of felony conspiracy and was freed on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
