2 Students Apprehended After Gun Brought To Georgia School

Two juveniles were apprehended Friday after a firearm was brought onto the campus of Thomas Heyward Academy, according to authorities.

Officials stated that one student brought a gun to school and allowed another to borrow it. The second student allegedly displayed the pistol to others and pointed it at another student, who subsequently reported the incident to school officials.

The Ridgeland Police Department was dispatched to the school around 2:30 p.m. Officers arrived at the scene, confiscated the firearm, and interviewed the students before arresting the two teenagers involved.

Police stated the juveniles would be brought to Columbia and turned over to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice. Police recorded no injuries and immediately released no other information.
