A lengthy narcotics investigation resulted in the seizure of approximately three and one-half kilograms of fentanyl, two and one-half kilograms of cocaine, a firearm, and an undisclosed amount of cash in East Boston on Tuesday.
Detectives from the Boston Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit and District A-7 Drug Control Unit, working with the United States Postal Inspection Service, executed various Suffolk Superior Court-authorized search warrants as part of the investigation.
The investigation revealed that drug traffickers were using the United States Postal Service to transport cocaine from Puerto Rico to Boston.
Investigators found many parcels and locations in East Boston that were consistent with this trafficking approach, and they coordinated surveillance with a controlled delivery of a parcel suspected of containing illegal narcotics.
Following the delivery, officers issued search warrants at several East Boston addresses, including 11 Trustman Terrace and 906A Saratoga Street.
Detectives found one parcel unopened and conducted an investigation.
Inside, detectives discovered two brick-shaped containers containing a white, rock-like substance that tested positive for cocaine base, weighing around 2,000 grams.
Investigators discovered a 9mm large-capacity semi-automatic pistol, a large-capacity feeding system, and ammo.
According to authorities, the estimated street value of the fentanyl, some of which was packed for retail distribution, exceeded $1,000,000.
The cocaine, some of which was packaged for retail distribution, was believed to be worth more than $150,000 on the streets.
Officers also discovered several tablets suspected to be restricted substances, drug packaging items such as heat sealers, scales, and packaging supplies, safes and lock boxes with an undetermined quantity of US currency, and multiple cellular phones.
Anny Perdomo-Santana, 35, of East Boston, was arrested and is scheduled to appear in East Boston District Court on charges of trafficking in fentanyl (200 grams or more), trafficking in cocaine (200 grams or more), unlawful possession of a large-capacity firearm, unlawful possession of a large-capacity feeding device, firearm violation in the commission of a felony, and improper storage of a large-capacity firearm near a child.
Due to medical concerns found during the enforcement action, an additional defendant was summoned to court to face a charge of trafficking in a Class B substance (cocaine) in excess of 200 grams.
