Pair with drugs traveling in noisy truck detained near Oxford Oaks

Two people with narcotics traveling in a noisy truck were detained after a traffic stop near Oxford Oaks on U.S. 301.

Timothy Paul Taylor, 35, of Summerfield, was driving the truck shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday when an officer noticed its modified exhaust system as it departed the Wawa on U.S. 301, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.

A traffic stop was initiated on U.S. 301 near the entrance to Oxford Oaks. During the traffic encounter, Taylor stated that he had just acquired the truck and that it came with the modified exhaust system. He claimed to have a “tool he could fix it with,” according to the report. There was no registration associated with the car.

A K-9 team was dispatched to the scene and notified about the truck. Taylor was found in possession of over 13 grams of methamphetamine and drug accessories. He tried to accuse his passenger, 36-year-old Kayla Morrow of Umatilla. She also had methamphetamine in her purse, as well as a narcotics smoking pipe.

Both were detained on narcotics charges and put into the Sumter County Detention Center.
