A man who was in the early stages of dementia and had been reported missing was discovered stabbed to death inside a Pittsburgh home on Saturday.
According to WTAE, police were summoned to a home in the 7200 block of Hilliards Street shortly before 8 a.m. When cops arrived, they discovered the lifeless body of an adult man. He was later identified as Lester Bridges, 83, who was reported missing on Friday evening.
The homeowner informed authorities that the man had broken into his home at 2 a.m. and stabbed him.
The homeowner was then transported to police headquarters for interrogation; however, it is unclear whether any charges were made.
According to police, Bridges went missing after leaving a home to service his truck but walking away.
Police say the investigation is ongoing. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office is likely to identify the exact cause of Bridges’ death.
