According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, a Pennsylvania high school basketball coach has been charged with embezzling nearly $250,000 from a nonprofit organization.
According to the report, Michael Fantuzzo, the head boys basketball coach at Burrell High School in Pennsylvania, is accused of stealing $246,708.01 from the nonprofit Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association.
The Montgomery County District Attorney issued an announcement on the case earlier this week.
According to a news release from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Fantuzzo is facing one case of theft by unlawful taking or disposition and two charges of theft by deception.
According to the news release, one of Fantuzzo’s claimed expenses with a POTA credit card was a $128,000 purchase for personal use. Payments were also revealed for a family trip to Disney World, an Outer Banks vacation rental, country club membership fees, limousine service, credit cards, the purchase and installation of a hot tub at Fantuzzo’s house, and local and state property taxes.
Fantuzzo has been the head coach of Burrell’s boys basketball team since the 2020-21 season, and his overall record is 68-64 in six seasons.
This season, the Bucs had a 10-12 record and are placed at No. 309 in the most recent Pennsylvania 2025 High School Boys Basketball Massey Rankings.
