A suspect accused of fleeing the scene of an crash involving a bicyclist in Arvada earlier this week was apprehended Friday.
According to the Arvada Police Department, the unidentified suspect was detained for leaving the scene of a serious bodily injury collision, driving without a license, and failing to provide proof of insurance.
Police said the crash happened before 7 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, near West 64th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard.
According to APD, arriving officers saw a man lying in the street, and detectives concluded that the individual was riding a bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the area. According to police, the bicyclist survived but shattered his pelvis and back.
Police were then looking for a red Volkswagen Jetta or Passat, which APD claimed was located at the scene of the crash.
In a previous update Thursday, APD stated that it had discovered the car thought to be involved in the incident after getting a tip from CrimeStoppers, but no arrests had been made.
