Woman Sentenced To At Least 15 Years For Fatal Northeast Columbus Shooting In 2024

A woman has been sentenced to at least 15 years in prison for a fatal shooting in northeast Columbus in 2024, according to court records.

Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Brittney McBride was sentenced to 15 to 20.5 years in prison for fatally shooting Dajuan Rios, 36, on August 3, 2024, according to court documents.

McBride pled guilty to felony assault and involuntary manslaughter in January.

The shooting occurred in the 800 block of Murray Avenue, near East Fifth Avenue. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered Rios with a gunshot wound.

He was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition and eventually confirmed deceased.

According to Franklin County Court documents, investigators discovered Rios’ abusive domestic connection with McBride.

McBride was arrested a few weeks after the shooting.
