A Tinley Park man has been charged with aggravated identity theft for using a stolen credit card to make a $9,100 purchase.
Investigators in Palos Heights claimed the US Postal Service and PNC Bank alerted them to many lost credit and debit cards that had been fraudulently used.
On August 19, 2025, one victim discovered that a charge had been made to Hot Wheels Auto LLC using his information, including an Illinois driver’s license with his name, date of birth, and address, even though the photo did not match him. Investigators believe Sahran Almasri, 37, used the card without the victim’s consent.
Almasri went to the Palos Heights Police Department on Friday, and prosecutors approved one case of aggravated identity theft for a victim over the age of 60.
He was released pending his next court appearance at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
