A Williams County man who was already facing charges for allegedly fleeing the scene of an Amish buggy crash was charged again with OVI in Indiana.
Michael Quillen, of Bryan, was apprehended near Angola, Indiana, according to court records. He is facing new OVI-endangerment charges for the Sunday incident, which occurred just days before his planned court appearance in Williams County.
According to a police report acquired by 13 Action News, Quillen was not supposed to be driving in each occurrence since his license had been suspended.
Original crash injured pregnant woman and children
State police body camera footage captures the moment troopers arrived after an Amish buggy was hit from behind by a truck in November. Police believe Quillen was behind the wheel.
The collision occurred in Center Township on County Road G, near County Road 10. The pregnant mom was forced to deliver her baby two months prematurely, and her other two children were severely harmed.
Quillen was charged in December with six counts, including three counts of abandoning the scene, cocaine possession, evidence tampering, and driving while suspended.
“Definitely was not surprising looking at some of the history that is repeating itself here,” stated a community member.
The community member stated that Quillen had exhibited no remorse.
“I don’t think that there has been any signs of remorse I mean he’s still doing the same driving under suspension crimes,” the community member said.
Quillen is appearing in Williams County Court on Thursday. His attorney did not return a request for comment.
A 5K fundraising for the Amish family is scheduled for March 14.
