Police: Burglary Suspect Shot By Homeowner In New Castle

A burglary suspect was hospitalized after being shot in New Castle on Monday morning.

The New Castle Police Department reported a burglary at a home on the 1600 block of South Jefferson Street around 6 a.m. According to the caller, the homeowner shot someone who broke into the home.

Upon arrival, cops found a male suspect wounded in the leg. He was treated on the scene before being sent to a hospital in Ohio.

Police in New Castle said the investigation is ongoing. It was not immediately known whether anyone would face charges.
