The Pickens County Coroner’s Office reports that a 17-year-old Liberty teenager was killed in an accident Saturday afternoon.
Emergency officials responded to the scene near the intersection of Breazeale Road and Ashley Lane. One person was pronounced dead on the scene.
Leeland Cole Yates, 17, of Liberty, has been identified as the victim. According to authorities, Yates was a restrained passenger in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Two other passengers were transported to a local hospital. Their conditions have not been disclosed.
The Pickens County Coroner’s Office continues to investigate the crash. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
