Maryland State Police have apprehended the owners of a Charles County crematory following a gruesome investigation into the unauthorized disposal and mishandling of human remains.

The Arrests

On Friday, February 20, 2026, members of the Maryland State Apprehension Team apprehended Rosa Iyonna Williams, 48, and Brandon Angelo Williams, 50, without incident. Both Waldorf, Maryland, residents face eight counts of improper body disposal.

Disturbing Findings

The criminal inquiry of Heaven Bound Crematory began in February 2025, when state investigators identified multiple regulatory infractions. During subsequent search warrants at a White Plains business and a Bensville apartment, authorities discovered decomposing cadavers, cremated human remains, and numerous records.

According to additional reports, the allegations especially concern the mistreatment of the remains of seven fetuses and a two-month-old newborn. The probe received widespread attention in 2025, when a local couple discovered their young son’s body decaying at the facility after being promised he had been cremated.

Long-Term Oversight Concerns

Heaven Bound Crematory was ordered to close in January 2025 after officials deemed the conditions “dangerous” to public health. Disciplinary records revealed that 18 remains were not kept at proper temperatures, and the institution had received multiple complaints since 2017.

The investigation is ongoing, as authorities continue to document evidence and contact affected family members.
