Man charged with the killing of a Chick-fil-A employee who was discovered dead inside abandoned Jackson home

A man has been arrested and charged with the murder of Malcolm Harris, who was discovered dead in an abandoned Jackson home earlier this month.

According to the Jackson Police Department, Nequan Balentine, 19, is being extradited to Jackson from Panola County.

Balentine was arrested on February 23 on several charges, including armed robbery at a Dollar General in Quitman County.

On February 18, officers discovered Harris’s body inside a residence on Skyline Drive. Harris was slain just before his 26th birthday.

Harris’ automobile was stolen after his death.

Harris worked at a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Madison at the time of his death. In a Facebook post, the eatery said he had a “kind and joyful spirit.”

After appearing in municipal court, Balentine was denied bond.
