A large investigation is underway after the unidentified body of a young boy was discovered dumped on the southwestern outskirts of Juárez, according to Chihuahua state authorities.
According to a news release from the Chihuahua Attorney General’s Office on Saturday, March 14, Juárez police officers, state investigators, and members of the Mexican army went door-to-door over the weekend, searching for potential witnesses, video, or any other relevant information related to the child homicide case in the area known as “Los Kilómetros.”
The small boy’s lifeless body was discovered by a garbage scavenger on Tuesday night, March 10, off the Juárez-to-Casas Grandes highway near Segunda Street in Colonia Kilómetro 27, according to the state attorney general’s office and local news reports.
According to El Heraldo de Juárez, the medical forensics office established that the boy was between 2 and 4 years old, had violent behavior, and died as a result of a strike to the head.
The Chihuahua State Local Search Commission issued this artist rendering of the unnamed boy, who has deep-set eyes and straight hair, on Friday, March 13, in the hopes that someone will be able to identify the deceased child’s parents.
