Two people were taken to the hospital Sunday evening following a truck crash in Northfield Township.
According to Chris Bishop, head of the Northfield Township Fire Department, debris from the truck struck a vehicle in the northbound lane as well. The driver denied medical transport.
According to investigators, the vehicle was hauling things for a house moving firm and contained no hazardous materials.
Bishop stated that the truck’s box was completely shattered. The truck’s contents were transferred to a different vehicle, causing multiple lanes of the expressway to remain stopped for several hours.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office reported that the freeway reopened around 10:30 p.m.
The Huron Valley Ambulance, Northfield Township Police Department, and Michigan State Police all assisted the Northfield Township Fire Department on the incident.
