A 20-year-old man died after being discovered shot in a car in Chicago’s northwest suburbs on Monday night.
Around 9:39 p.m., Palatine police arrived at the 1200 block of East Prairie Brook Drive on a complaint of a vehicle colliding with numerous parked automobiles and a garbage dumpster.
Officers came and discovered a black four-door Audi with a man in the driver’s seat suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The Palatine Fire Department transported him to an area hospital, where he later died.
He was recognized as Kevin K. Koonce from Streamwood. Police say the shooting is being investigated as a homicide.
North Rand Road between Route 53 and Dundee Road was closed after the incident and reopened at 10:10 a.m. on Tuesday.
It It is unclear what led up to the shooting.
