A Shreveport man is in behind bars after allegedly threatening several people with a hammer after a domestic dispute.
According to the Shreveport Police Department, police were dispatched on March 13 at 9 a.m. in response to a 911 call reporting a fight at Advance Auto Parts in the 8900 block of Mansfield Road. When authorities arrived, they discovered that a man and a woman had been chased into the store by another individual who was allegedly armed with a hammer.
Witnesses informed police that the man with the hammer chased a man who was in the parking lot with a woman when the altercation began.
During the inquiry, authorities identified the individual with the hammer as Weldon Trant. According to police, Trant not only chased the victims, but also used the hammer to damage the man’s car and punch the wife in the face.
Police later discovered that the woman has an active protective order against Trant.
