A Ford Heights man was sentenced after being taken into custody again for failing to appear in court on a weapons case.
A fugitive task force apprehended Deandre Guy, 26, on April 2 at a home in the 1400 block of Deer Creek Lane, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said Guy had an active warrant issued on March 30 for failing to appear in court in the 2024 aggravated unlawful use of a weapon case, and he had already been arrested in February for skipping a court date in the same matter. He also has an outstanding warrant for a retail theft charge.
Guy appeared in court on April 3 and pled guilty to one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He was sentenced to a year in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
He was also ordered kept in Cook County Jail for the pending retail theft charge.
