Cleveland EMS responded to a report of two minors shot Saturday afternoon at a McDonald’s in the Collinwood neighborhood.
The shooting occurred shortly before 4 p.m. at the McDonald’s on E. 152nd Street and St. Clair Avenue.
Cleveland EMS verified that a 9-year-old and a 17-year-old were shot and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Both were transported to the hospital.
A junction separated two scenes. A blue Ford Taurus slowly crossed the intersection in front of Collinwood High School.
Verneece Fisher grew up in this neighborhood. She was packing her truck nearby when she reported hearing gunshots.
“We were literally standing outside; we stay over at the next street, and we were loading our truck, and we heard was gunshots,” Fisher stated. “Everybody was running everywhere, police cars going every which and way.”
Fisher set up shop in the McDonald’s parking lot to sell Easter baskets, completely unaware of what had recently occurred.
Fisher attended Collinwood High School, which was located directly across the street.
“It never happens. I’ve never seen anything like it. Fisher said, “I hate that this happened.”
