A woman from Wildwood was taken into custody at the Sumter County Courthouse after deputies found several medications that had not been prescribed to her.
A deputy working at the Sumter County Courthouse, located at 215 E. McCollum Ave. in Bushnell, was alerted by court security around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday about a woman in the lobby with a writ of bodily attachment, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities identified the woman as 45-year-old Kelona Nicole Gibbs, who was wanted in Lake County for unpaid child support.
Deputies then detained Gibbs and conducted a search, including the black drawstring bag she was carrying on her back. Inside, they found various personal items, including three diazepam tablets stored in an expired prescription bottle that was labeled for different medications. The report also noted she had an albuterol inhaler and another prescription bottle containing a clindamycin hydrochloride pill.
She said she had obtained the prescriptions through Langley Medical, but a call to the pharmacy confirmed that was not accurate. She then claimed she had them filled at CVS Pharmacy in Bushnell; however, a pharmacist there also confirmed that was not the case, according to the report.
Authorities arrested Gibbs on two counts of possession of a new legend drug without a prescription and one count of possession of diazepam. Officials booked her into the Sumter County Detention Center, set her bond at $3,500, and placed a hold on her from Lake County.
