Texas EquuSearch Joins Search for Missing 8-Month Pregnant Woman in Houston

HOUSTON – Texas EquuSearch has joined the search for a missing 23-year-old woman who is eight months pregnant and considered at high risk.

Texas EquuSearch is offering a $5,000 reward for any information about Ashanti Allen’s whereabouts.

Search officials said Allen was last seen on April 8 as she left her apartment complex near the 8700 block of Main Street in Houston. Authorities reported her missing on April 10, and investigators are actively working the case as a missing persons investigation.

Allen’s mother, Trisa Gaines Colbert, said she received a strange text from her daughter’s cellphone on April 10, reading, “I’m leaving and never coming back.”

“That seemed suspicious to me, so when I noticed that, I immediately went up to her apartment, knocked, and no one answered,” Colbert said. “I checked the garage, and the vehicle was gone as well.”

EquuSearch says Allen’s case is particularly concerning because she is in the final stages of a high-risk pregnancy, increasing the urgency of the search efforts.

Colbert said she entered her daughter’s home and found that both her clothes and the baby’s clothes were still inside.

Investigators say they do not know what Allen was wearing when she disappeared. Authorities are also searching for her vehicle, described as a white Lincoln MKX SUV.

Colbert said Allen had been using a wheelchair to move around because she was having difficulty walking after recently passing out during her pregnancy.

“She was barely getting around,” Colbert said.

Colbert said Allen’s apartment complex’s surveillance video shows Allen and another person leaving the complex before her disappearance.

“I just feel hopeless and devastated,” Colbert said.

Colbert made a heartfelt plea directly to her daughter.

“Baby, we’re all looking for you. We want you back and safe. This is your first baby coming. My grandson. We just want you to be back,” she said.

Anyone with information about Allen’s whereabouts or details related to her disappearance is urged to contact the Houston Police Department at 832-394-1840 or Texas EquuSearch at 281-309-9500.
