A man died from injuries sustained in a garbage truck during trash collection on Friday morning, April 18, according to the Pueblo Police Department (PPD).
Police claimed that around 7 a.m. on Friday, officers arrived to the 3000 block of North Elizabeth Street, near West 29th Street, for a call about an industrial accident after a trash disposal worker discovered an injured man trapped in the garbage truck’s collection compartment.
The worker informed investigators that debris had become trapped in the truck’s compression cylinder, and that when he went to clear the debris, he heard a man’s voice from the truck’s trash storage section and discovered a man with critical injuries locked within.
According to PPD, the injured man died from his injuries before medical workers arrived. The coroner pronounced him deceased at the scene. The matter is being investigated by crime scene detectives, however it is now classified as an accident.
