Missing Boater Found Dead In Central Florida

A missing boater was found dead in Central Florida.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, along with the United States Coast Guard, multiple Fire Rescue Units, Eckerd College, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, recently assisted in the search for a missing boater in the channel south of Maximo Park in St. Petersburg.

According to detectives, local deputies responded to a cry for help at 6701 Sunshine Skyway Lane South in St. Petersburg, where it was claimed that Tony Le, 63, had fallen into the sea from a boat near channel marker 18.

Numerous witnesses tried to find Le in the water but were unsuccessful, according to local law police.

Detectives discovered Le was sailing with his family, seated in the back of the boat while cruising at approximately 10 miles per hour. When Le’s family discovered he had fallen overboard, they quickly turned the boat around and entered the sea, along with other nearby boaters, but were unable to locate him.

According to detectives, Tony Le had medical disabilities and was wearing a life jacket at the time of the launch, but it appeared to have been removed before entering the sea. Primary search activities were paused at nighttime, and recovery efforts resumed in the morning of April 12, 2026.

On April 12th, at approximately 3:27pm, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team members entered the water in the channel and, after numerous recovery dives, discovered Tony Le’s body at a depth of roughly 19 feet.

According to local law enforcement, the occurrence appears to have been an accident, and the inquiry is still ongoing.
