Two people were killed when a vehicle went off Riverwatch Parkway and overturned near Goodrich Street, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a traffic fatality on Riverwatch Parkway on Monday evening.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. Monday on westbound Riverwatch at mile marker 2 near Goodrich Street, in front of the old Confederate Power Works chimney.
Deputies reported the vehicle went off the road and down an embankment toward Goodrich Street.
A preliminary investigation determined that the crash occurred on April 18.
Deputies say the car was traveling at a high pace when it left the north shoulder while negotiating a curve.
As a result, the vehicle hit a barrier and overturned.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle, and a female passenger was found inside.
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office reported that both were declared dead on the scene at 5:56 p.m.
