Police: 9 people attacked CTA passenger in the Loop

Chicago police are hunting for nine people, seven of whom are women, who attacked a passenger on a Red Line train in the Loop last week.

CPD provided scant specifics about what occurred, stating simply that the suspects “committed an aggravated battery to a transit passenger while on a CTA train” in the 600 block of South State Street around 9:36 p.m. on April 14.

At the time of the attack, a significant number of teenagers were returning home following an otherwise uneventful “trend” at North Avenue Beach, which had generated disturbances on the CTA.

CPD characterized the persons as:

  • A Black male wearing a long black sleeve shirt
  • A Black female wearing a blue t-shirt and blue shorts
  • A Black female wearing a white top with red hair

  • A Black female wearing a black flower print sweater
  • A Black female wearing a black zip-up sweater and black shorts
  • A Black female wearing a black hooded sweater and black pants
  • A Black female wearing a black t-shirt with white lettering and black pants

Anyone with information regarding the suspects can call Mass Transit detectives at 312-745-4447 or make an anonymous tip at CPDTIP.com. The case number is JK-189284.
