KC man sentenced for Facebook Marketplace car sales scam

The man charged with selling cars to “unsuspecting buyers” on Facebook Marketplace before stealing them was sentenced to prison on Friday.

According to Jackson County court documents, 24-year-old Mamidou Diallo of Kansas City has pled guilty to six charges of vehicle tampering and eight counts of forgery. He was sentenced to four years in jail for each offense, although each term would be served concurrently, for a total of four years.

According to court records, in May and June 2025, the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) received eight similar allegations of a stolen automobile.

Before being stolen, each vehicle had recently been acquired from the same Facebook Marketplace seller and had what appeared to be authentic bills of sale and titles. The seller was later identified as Diallo.

He has had many arrest warrants issued for him in Johnson County, Kansas, Platte County, Missouri, and Johnson County, Missouri, dating back to 2024. In such circumstances, he faces at least seven more counts of similar offenses.
