A Miami-Dade man was apprehended this week on allegations of abusing a minor over several years, according to an arrest report.
Joan Cornelio, 46, is facing multiple felony accusations for sexual assault with a child.
According to authorities, the victim, a 15-year-old girl, told investigators about the claims in October 2025.
According to investigators, her mother confirmed her identity, and the report shows that the victim is the defendant’s daughter.
According to authorities, the girl initially came forward when she was 14 years old, telling detectives that she had been abused on many occasions during the previous years.

Detectives from the Miami-Dade Police Department’s Special Victims Bureau interrogated Cornelio after informing him of his rights.
According to the report, he denied the charges but stated that he would engage in a “game” with the victim.
When pressed for information, investigators stated he invoked his right to an attorney.
Cornelio was arrested at the Special Victims Bureau’s Sexual Crimes Investigations Unit at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. was subsequently taken to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center for booking.
According to online jail records, he is still being held pending a bond hearing.
