Suspect in Denver shooting apprehended

Police have apprehended a suspect in the deadly shooting of a man in Denver earlier this month.

The Denver Police Department says Rayzjuan Curry, 28, is suspected of killing Torin Fluker, 26, on April 5. According to DPD, police responded to a reported shooting at West Maple Avenue and South Broadway around 1:55 a.m. that day. When they arrived, they discovered Fluker with apparent gunshot wounds. He later died in the hospital.

After interviewing witnesses and studying security video, police identified Curry as the suspect and arrested him on a first-degree murder charge Thursday.

Police said Curry and Fluker knew each other. Investigators stated that they had an altercation prior to the incident. According to the arrest complaint, a witness told police that Curry made gang-related statements before shooting Fluker, who also had a revolver but gave it to someone else after being shot and instructed him to go after Curry.

The Denver District Attorney’s Office will ultimately decide on charges.
