A man reportedly broke into a Greater Cincinnati brewery and took several checks, attempting to cash them after crossing out the business name and replacing it with his own.
Hamilton County Municipal Court documents show that Charles Rinehart faced charges of theft, breaking and entering, and forgery on April 24.
The first alleged offense took place in June 2025, when Rinehart purchased a Walmart+ membership using an American Express card that belonged to Fifty West Brewery. Authorities stated that Fifty West Brewery had not authorized or known about this transaction.
The forgery and breaking and entering charges stemmed from an alleged January 2026 incident. During this event, Rinehart entered Fifty West Brewery’s Wooster location through an unlocked refrigerator door. The brewery had closed for business when the break-in occurred.
Once inside, Rinehart allegedly took three checks that had been issued to “Fifty West.”
“Once in possession of said checks, Mr. Rinehart proceeded to cross out ‘Fifty West’ and write in ‘Charles Rinehart,'” the court documents read. “Following these aforementioned activities, Mr. Rinehart deposited the three checks into his Chase bank account, utilizing an ATM.”
The ATM was reportedly located less than half a mile away from the Fifty West Brewery location that Rinehart stole the checks from.
