A Maryland man has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend after he initially told officers that she overdosed, according to Anne Arundel County Police.
Scott Kirby, 33, of Pasadena, has been charged with murder, assault, and making a false statement to police after his girlfriend, 34-year-old Heather Beaver, was discovered dead in her house in April 2025, according to police.
Officers arrived at the home in the 1200 block of Lorene Court, where they discovered Beaver unresponsive after Kirby called 911 and reported that she looked to be suffering from an overdose.
Beaver’s autopsy indicated many blunt force injuries, and a toxicology test revealed her death was not caused by an overdose, according to authorities.
During their investigation, authorities discovered evidence contradicting Kirby’s explanation. The evidence at the scene showed a violent battle and attack had happened.
Investigators eventually established that Kirby assaulted Beaver, inflicting fatal injuries.
Kirby was arrested and charged with Beaver’s killing on April 23, police said.
Anyone with information on this case should call 410-222-4731.
Beaver’s mother, Susan Beaver, said domestic abuse touches far too many families.
In an interview with WJZ last year, Susan Beaver revealed that her daughter was in an abusive relationship and had two children.”After a year of grief and unanswered questions, an arrest has been made in the murder of my daughter, Heather,” Susan Beaver said in a statement. “She was deeply loved and deserved a future filled with safety and happiness.”
Susan Beaver stated that her daughter was actively attempting to improve her life before her away.In her memory, I urge our community to take domestic violence seriously, listening, supporting, and acting. “We will continue to honor Heather and seek justice in her name,” Susan stated.
