One person apprehended after selling jailed woman’s car for $700 in Georgia

A 32-year-old man has been taken into custody after allegedly stealing and selling a vehicle belonging to a woman in jail.

According to authorities, Cameron Spires is charged with theft by conversion for allegedly selling a tan 2005 Lexus RX that did not belong to him for $700.

Officials stated that the vehicle’s owner was incarcerated at the time of sale. The Douglas Police Department recovered the vehicle during a traffic check, thanks to the detectives’ tracing of the transaction.

The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, which conducted the investigation, announced that they are holding the Lexus until they can restore it to its rightful owner.

Authorities said further charges against Spires are pending as the investigation continues.
