Deputies: Toledo Man Apprehended After High-speed Vehicle Chase

A Toledo man was arrested Friday after deputies said he conducted a high-speed chase across Monroe County.

The 60-year-old man, whose identity has not been revealed, is accused of fleeing Toledo police in a stolen vehicle. Officers called off the pursuit after the car crossed into Michigan.

A Monroe County sheriff’s officer discovered the vehicle around 12:20 a.m. in a parking lot on Lewis Avenue in Bedford Township, according to a sheriff’s office press release. When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the driver accelerated away, reaching speeds of approximately 110 mph. Deputies pursued the car throughout several townships, including Ida and Raisinville.

The pursuit ended when the vehicle turned onto West Dunbar Road and drove into a field. He then fled the truck, leading deputies on a brief foot chase before they apprehended him with a Taser.

According to deputies, the man is charged with running and eluding, possessing a stolen car, and resisting arrest. He also has outstanding warrants from Monroe and Lucas counties.
