A man has been arrested in connection with a local pediatrician accused of hosting “naked sleepovers” with children, according to officials.
Chad Hartley, 36, of Vancouver was detained on April 29 after detectives discovered child sex abuse material related to his IP address.
Hartley was brought into Clark County Jail on allegations of possessing and dealing in images of a juvenile engaging in sexually explicit behavior. Since then, he has been charged with first-degree trafficking and child molestation.
Dr. Michael Wilmington, a 61-year-old pediatrician, worked at several medical facilities in Portland and Vancouver. He is accused of holding naked sleepovers for youngsters at his house in La Center, Washington.
Police claimed they discovered evidence after conducting a search warrant at his residence on April 30. The following day, they also learned about a youngster Wilmington reportedly molested.
A warrant was issued for Wilmington’s arrest, but his body was discovered in Lewis County on May 2 following what authorities described as an apparent suicide. A death inquiry is now underway.
