Man shot on 215 Freeway in Murrieta area, forcing shutdown of southbound lanes
A shooting on the southbound 215 Freeway near Murrieta forced authorities to close all lanes Thursday afternoon while deputies searched for the suspect.
The shooting happened shortly before 3 p.m. near Clinton Keith Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Investigators said someone shot a man while he was driving on the freeway. The victim managed to pull over onto the right shoulder and called 911.
Paramedics took the victim to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Authorities shut down the southbound lanes of the freeway as deputies searched the surrounding area for the suspect. Traffic backed up for several miles during the closure.
Officials have not released information about the suspect or what led to the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
