A man from Upstate New York won $1 million in the Powerball drawing on March 16 by matching the first five numbers.
Stephen Masten of Poughkeepsie received his winnings in the form of a lump sum payment of $651,000 after statutory withholdings. He matched the numbers 7, 10, 20, 47, and 52, missing just the Powerball number 22, which was required for the prize.
The winning ticket was purchased from South Gate Deli in Poughkeepsie.
The second reward in Powerball goes to the player who matches all five white ball numbers but not the red Powerball.
During fiscal year 2024-2025, New York’s Powerball game generated total sales of $327,836,044. Dutchess County school districts got $54,202,913 in Lottery Aid to Education monies for the same time period.
