Baltimore Man In Custody Missing From Hospital, Sparks Citywide Search

Baltimore police are searching for 56-year-old Brian Meyers after he allegedly walked out of a hospital room Friday night, got into a car, and fled.

Police were called to the hospital about 7:28 p.m. Meyers was detained earlier in the day, according to investigators, and police are now trying to figure out how a man under supervision was able to leave the facility and drive away. Police report that a new arrest warrant has been issued.

According to FOX45, hospital workers informed officers that Meyers left his room and entered a car about the same time. Investigators told the station it’s still unknown how he got out in the first place.

Baltimore Police are requesting anybody who sees Meyers or recognizes the vehicle involved to call 911 right away. Tips can also be made anonymously to Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP or via the organization’s online tip form.

Meyers was arrested after police discovered him in possession of a handgun following an automobile accident. According to investigators, he is forbidden from owning a firearm due to a prior conviction, and another warrant has been issued for his arrest, according to WBFF/FOX45.

Convicted felons are prohibited from carrying weapons under federal law (18 U.S.C. §922) and Maryland’s Public Safety Act (Maryland Act, Pub. Safety §5-133).

Police said the search is ongoing, and further information will be shared when it becomes available. Anyone with immediate information is encouraged to phone 911 or leave an anonymous tip with Metro Crime Stoppers.
