A university student is accused of leaving a bar with an unconscious woman and raping her at a hostel.
According to KGAN, 19-year-old Cameron Frattalone bailed out of jail on Wednesday after being accused of raping a woman who fell unconscious at a downtown Iowa City bar on February 7, one month before his arrest.
According to the report, the victim went to police two days after the incident to claim that she had been raped by Frattalone while “blacked out,” explaining that she couldn’t remember anything between being sick at the pub and waking up in the suspect’s room.
Law officials reportedly inspected surveillance footage and discovered an unconscious woman at the bar who vomits before being carried from an Uber to a dorm by Frattalone and another guy.
During an initial interview with detectives on February 12, before his arrest in May, Frattalone gave them a video from his dorm room that night, which he said revealed the woman wasn’t unconscious. Detectives stated that the video showed the woman “mumbling incoherently for the camera with her mouth open.”
Frattalone was detained and charged with the following, according to KGAN:
- Sexual abuse (third degree)
Following his release from jail, he was allowed to leave the state and reside with his parents in Minnesota while awaiting trial.
