An illicit drug operation was busted in Central Florida.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office shut down Tampa’s narcotics operation.
Mohammad Al Youssef, 22, Samantha Gerts, 19, and Abdallah Abdel-Kader III, 21, have all been arrested.
According to local law enforcement, what began as an anonymous tip quickly became a multi-week undercover operation.
Deputies went undercover and bought items containing 7-hydroxymitragynine and substances that tested positive for synthetic cannabis.
7-hydroxymitragynine is a controlled substance in Florida, which makes it unlawful to possess or distribute. It is estimated to be 13 times stronger than morphine.
Deputies executed a search warrant, seizing synthetic cannabinoids, marijuana, more than 100 7-hydroxymitragynine tablets, and more than $11,000 cash.
