Two people were taken into custody after a vehicle pursuit and narcotics investigation that began with a traffic stop in League City, according to the League City Police Department.
Police said James Robinson, 26, of Hitchcock, was charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and endangering a child. Authorities stated that his total bond was set at $65,000.
Breannah Hampton, 23, of Texas City, was charged with possessing marijuana in the amount of four ounces to five pounds, and her bond was set at $20,000.
Officer Jones noticed a traffic violation involving a black Mercedes CLA250 at South Gulf Freeway and West FM 646 around 1:21 p.m. on May 11.
Police say the driver bolted after the officer started a traffic check in a Walmart parking lot.
According to authorities, the car rushed onto West FM 646 before continuing southbound at high speeds into traffic on the Interstate 45 corridor.
The pursuit continued into an apartment complex parking lot in the 8800 block of Emmett F. Lowry Boulevard.
Investigators said officers and deputies from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office found the vehicle inside the facility, where Hampton was allegedly spotted dumping a package later discovered to contain more than one pound of marijuana.
According to authorities, Robinson and the couple’s 1-year-old son were subsequently found inside the apartment complex.
