Grocery store lottery machine spits out monster $10M jackpot

A quick stop at a Dorchester grocery shop turned into a multimillion-dollar payout when a Massachusetts Lottery player won the $10 million grand prize on a scratch ticket purchased from a self-service machine inside a Stop & Shop.

Rock Solid Trust of Reading won the Massachusetts State Lottery’s $10,000,000 Quick Millions quick ticket game, lottery officials said.

The trust, represented by trustee Joshua Garick, chose the cash option and got a lump-sum payout of $6.5 million before taxes.

According to lottery officials, the winner intends to invest the winnings and support family members.
