Texas Mom Apprehended In Florida After Autopsy Finds Cocaine In System Of 2 Drowned Toddlers

A Texas mother has been arrested in Florida after detectives confirmed that her two young daughters had cocaine in their systems after they drowned earlier this year.

The incident began on February 11, 2026, when detectives from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint of a double drowning at a home in the 21000 block of Creek Edge Court, Katy. The victims were two sisters, ages two and three.

A subsequent inquiry into the occurrence discovered cocaine in both of the children’s systems at the time of their deaths.

Following these findings, homicide detectives officially charged 23-year-old Laura Nicholson with two counts of Injury to a Child on Friday, May 8, 2026, citing her alleged role in her daughters’ deaths.

On May 11, 2026, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Violent Criminals Apprehension Team, in collaboration with the Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force, apprehended and arrested Nicholson in Florida. She was then booked into the Lee County Jail.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez responded to the matter in a statement posted on the social media platform X.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic deaths of two young toddler sisters in our community.” “May these little ones rest in peace,” Gonzalez stated.
