Authorities have identified the man discovered deceased in Des Plaines earlier this month as an 88-year-old Glenview resident who had been reported missing.
Albert Lieberman was reported missing at 12:40 a.m. on April 24 from his home on the 1500 block of Greenwood Road, according to Glenview police.
According to police, Lieberman had a cognitive impairment, causing the Illinois State Police to issue a Silver Alert.
Lieberman walked away from his home around 9:46 p.m. on April 23.
Officers and detectives attempted to locate Lieberman using surveillance video, canine search teams, and daily searches.
Lieberman was last seen near the Golf Mill Shopping Center in Niles about 12:22 a.m. on April 24, according to authorities.
Around 12:20 p.m. on May 4, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office told Glenview police that a deceased man matching Lieberman’s description had been discovered in the 9400 block of Harrison Street in Des Plaines.
The individual was transferred to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, where authorities confirmed his identity on May 14.
Authorities have not revealed why Lieberman was in Des Plaines or the circumstances of his death.
Cook County sheriff’s police investigators are still looking into the case.
