Man wanted for Bridgeport assault arrested in New York

A felon wanted for gravely injuring a woman on Bridgeport’s East Side was arrested in New York on Friday morning by US Marshals.

Frank Moreno, 45, was apprehended after being served with an active arrest warrant for an assault on the night of May 6th.

According to the police department, officers were dispatched to the Bond Street neighborhood after receiving a complaint of a woman outside covered in blood and asking with local people to contact the police.

Following an inquiry, it was discovered that Moreno assaulted the victim with his hands and a beer bottle inside her residence.

Then he escaped on foot with her cell phone, preventing her from calling for help.

Moreno was on federal probation when the incident occurred and had recently been released from jail.

Moreno is currently in federal detention after being apprehended in the Bronx, New York, and is facing the following charges:

  • Assault in the second degree
  • Interfering with an emergency call
  • Larceny in the sixth degree

He will be extradited to Connecticut at a later date to face the Bridgeport allegations.

Moreno has previously been arrested in New York for violent robbery and firearms crimes, including illegal possession of a machine pistol, according to officials.
