A woman from western Illinois is experiencing a transformative victory after winning $1 million on Powerball®.
Diana Carman won $1 million after matching all five white ball numbers—3, 19, 35, 51, and 67— in the Powerball drawing on April 29.
“I couldn’t believe it — I picked these numbers randomly,” Diana added. “I’ve won smaller prizes before, but this is the first time I’ve won a million dollars.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Ayerco Convenience Center on Highway 34 and Carman Road in Carman. The store will get a $10,000 bonus, which is equal to one percent of the prize value, for selling the winning ticket.
Diana stated that she instantly shared the exciting news with loved ones, but some first did not believe it.
“I told a friend, and he laughed, saying, ‘Come on now, quit playing with me — I’m tired,'” she said.
She later validated the win at the store where she had bought the ticket.
“I’m friends with the staff there, and they were thrilled when they found out I won,” she replied. “Everyone was shocked.”
Diana planned to buy a new automobile, go on a cruise with a friend, and then visit Las Vegas.
“I’ve always wanted to go to Vegas,” she explained. “My brother was stationed there in the Air Force, and I’ve heard so many great stories.”
Diana is one of four Illinois Lottery players that won at least $1 million in the April 29 Powerball drawing. So far this year, Illinois Lottery players have claimed roughly 804,000 winning Powerball tickets for more than $14.7 million in prizes.
