Ohio homicide suspect apprehended in West Virginia after wife found dead by children

A 49-year-old man accused of killing his wife was arrested Wednesday in West Virginia after two children discovered her body inside a bedroom and phoned 911. The finding in the Stark County city of Alliance prompted an immediate inquiry, which swiftly focused on the victim’s husband, who was found across state lines later that day.

Ashley Ross was discovered dead Wednesday morning by her two children, who notified emergency responders. At the site, investigators from the City of Alliance Police Department decided that her death was a homicide, albeit the exact cause and manner of death have not been officially published.

Investigation and manhunt

Police claimed Robert Andre Ross was named a suspect “early in the investigation.” Following the discovery, authorities obtained an arrest warrant for him on one count of murder.

Law enforcement agencies worked with the US Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force to identify the suspect’s car using a license plate scanner. This information led detectives to Morgantown, West Virginia, where local authorities found the vehicle and conducted a traffic check.

Robert Andre Ross was captured without incident in Monongalia County, West Virginia. He is still in custody there and is anticipated to be extradited to Stark County, Ohio, to face the current charge.
