‘Severe’ Thunderstorm With 60 MPH Winds Could Hit 2 U.S. States Tonight

A strong thunderstorm with gusts of 60 mph might reach two states on Sunday evening, May 24.

The National Weather Service has issued a warning for two distinct states in the United States for potentially severe thunderstorms and lightning on Sunday evening. A powerful storm with dangerously high winds and huge hail could strike two states in the United States.

In Georgia, the strong storm could reach late Sunday afternoon and persist until early evening. Babcock, Hawkinstown, Mimsville, Hopeful, Hoggard Mill, Branchville, Cooktown, and Bellview are among the affected communities.

“Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees,” the alert reads.

“For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.”

Meanwhile, in Texas, the storm could have an impact on Kenedy County.

“Be alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can form fast following strong thunderstorms. If you see a tornado, go immediately into the basement or a small central chamber in a substantial structure. Move to an internal room on the building’s lowest floor for your own safety,” the advisory advises.
